First Encounters: Police Stops and Race

Tuesday, February 16, 2021 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Keynote: Kathleen O’Toole

The Gregory J. Grappone Humanities Institute is pleased to join with The Anselmian Network for Racial Justice, The Saint Anselm Criminal Justice Department, and the Saint Anselm Office of Alumni Relations to host a series of three webinars during the coming semester. Each webinar will invite participants to consider current issues surrounding policing and the justice system in light of core Anselmian values such as engagement with the community, the pursuit of justice in all forms, and the fostering of human understanding. Our aim is to gather many voices who can help us all reimagine how policing practices and the justice system can change to better serve all of the people in our communities. As such, each webinar will feature a prominent keynote speaker, a panel of practitioners that includes Saint Anselm alumni in the fields of law enforcement, prosecution, criminal defense, and social services, and facilitated questions and comments from attendees. All three webinars will be free and open to the public.
